Engineering Systems Integration Support for Mining Project Execution
Overview
Vista provides ongoing systems integration and engineering support for engineering execution at a large-scale mining operation, enabling an external engineering partner to work effectively within the owner’s AVEVA-based digital environment.
By combining systems integration expertise with experienced AVEVA engineering resources, Vista supports configuration, integration, and day-to-day use of the platform across multiple disciplines, ensuring consistent and efficient project delivery.

Large-scale US mining operation
Situation
The client had an established AVEVA-based digital engineering environmentA digital engineering environment is the part of a digital project hub that encompasses the various software applications required for engi… to support project execution at the Kennecott mining operation. Engineering work was being executed by an external partner, requiring alignment with the owner’s systems, standards, and data structures.
The engineering partner had limited experience with AVEVA tools, creating challenges in effectively utilizing the platform and maintaining consistency across disciplines. To support project execution, the client required both systems integration expertise and experienced AVEVA resources to enable adoption and ensure effective use of the environment.
Solution
Vista initially deployed experienced AVEVA designers to the engineering partner’s offices to support onboarding and enable effective use of the owner’s digital engineering environment. These resources provided hands-on support for AVEVA E3D modelling, helping project teams adopt AVEVA tools and align with the clients systems and standards.
In parallel, Vista provided systems integration support across the AVEVA platform, including AVEVA Engineering, Diagrams, AVEVA E3D, Instrumentation, and Electrical. This included configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support to ensure consistent and reliable use of the tools throughout project execution.
Vista also supported integration between applications using AVEVA Compare Update, enabling controlled data exchange and alignment between engineering systems.
Throughout project execution, Vista Engineers and Designers have been able to fill in with AVEVA expertise whenever the engineering partner did not have the resources to support execution of the project.
Over time, Vista’s role evolved from direct support under the client to ongoing engagement with the engineering partner, continuing to provide both systems integration and engineering expertise to support project delivery.
