Bashar Hussien is the Chairman of Vista’s Board of Directors.
As the Chairman of the Board of Directors Bashar has overall responsibility for the success of Vista Projects. He leads board members, offering oversight and accountability to safeguard stakeholders’ interests; sets strategic direction; provides guidance to the CEO and the Senior Management Team; and is the liaison between the Board of Directors and management.
His career has spanned the globe, with diverse experiences in engineering, project management and entrepreneurial endeavors. He has accumulated a broad range of experience in industrial project development, implementation, and project management in energy, oil and gas, steel, and other industries. Since joining Vista in 2008, Bashar has managed the engineering design for a variety of oil recovery methods, including THAI, SAGD, CSS, and ASP.
Bashar holds a BSc. in chemical engineering (1988), has an M.Sc. in Process Engineering – Petroleum and Petrochemical (1991) and earned a Ph.D. in heavy oil upgrading using the novel Discriminatory Destructive Distillation (3D) process in 1999.
