We provide full in-house preliminary front-end engineering design (pre-FEED), front-end engineering design (FEED), and detailed engineering design products for in-situ heavy oil, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and conventional oil and gas processing plants and facilities.
We continue to work on leading edge in-situ heavy oil extraction technologies for a number of major oil and gas companies, in addition to other client-specific technologies. In all cases, our capabilities span all major engineering disciplines and our teams are very experienced at working together to meet client requirements.
Our process engineering group provides an in-depth working knowledge of multiple process systems and simulation software to prepare and approve project-specific designs documentation. Common deliverables from the process team include the preparation and review of PFDs, P&IDs, DTs, datasheets, design calculations, etc. and applying a professional engineering stamp as required.
Civil Structural Engineering
The civil structural engineering group at Vista prepares loading and load combinations based on the applicable codes and standards, coordinates shop-drawing reviews for structural adequacy and accordance with IFC structural drawings. The C/S teams also check complex structural engineering designs, including rack structure supports, structural foundation drawings, main structural frames, secondary steel frames, platforms and access, architectural plan drawings and load foundation calculations.
Our electrical engineering group works closely with other engineering disciplines at Vista to apply extensive knowledge of oil facility-related drawing packages, SLDs, area classifications, electrical layouts, JB wiring diagrams, motor and VFD schematics, cable schedules and EHT isometrics. Our team will independently prepare or review ETAP or SKM models, and apply expertise in CEC and international codes, standards and approved codes of practice. Common deliverables for the electrical team include demand load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable tray fill calculations, EHT calculations, etc.
Instrumentation & Controls Engineering
The instrumentation & controls engineering team works with other disciplines to prepare P&ID inputs and instrument selection. The I&C group is also responsible for developing and reviewing instrument indexes, instrument datasheets, and inline instrument sizing. Other common deliverables include I/O count and assignments, instrument loop diagrams, instrument UPS load requirements lists, and preparing cable schedule inputs, junction box termination drawings, SDKs and control philosophies or narratives.
Our mechanical engineering group applies extensive working knowledge of most types of equipment to review equipment drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings from a mechanical standpoint. Working closely with other engineering disciplines throughout the project cycle, the mechanical team prepares and reviews equipment data sheets and equipment lists, packages and drawings in accordance with industry and client codes and standards. The team is also responsible for preparing and reviewing specifications for mechanical systems and materials, technical selection, sizing and equipment evaluation.
The piping engineering group encompasses materials and stress engineering as well as metallurgy. Common deliverables include developing and stamping new and existing line class specification, preparing stress calculations, and defining piping and equipment metallurgies.
Engineering studies are often required at the early stages of project design to optimize the design specifications and address the unique challenges associated with each project.
As part of this process, Vista explores all the options – process technologies, alternate process design schemes, utilization of existing plant facilities, alternative construction materials/techniques and scheduling options… all with one thing in mind: the most efficient and effective design for our clients.
