The second of two processing plants at the Sunrise Energy Project in northeastern Alberta has commenced steam, Husky Energy announced yesterday.
Bitumen production at the first plant began in March, and production at the second is expected to begin later this year. Once both plants on the site are producing at full capacity – a milestone planned around the end of 2016 – the facility is expected to produce 60,000 BPD of crude oil, which will be shipped to Toledo, Ohio, for refining.
The Sunrise Energy Project is jointly owned by Husky Energy and BP.
