Cenovus Energy (Cenovus) announced production has begun at Foster Creek Phase F, which is the SAGD facility’s sixth project phase. Cenovus predicts Phase F will reach 5,000 barrels per day (BPD) by the end of the year and 30,000 BPD within the next 12 to 18 months.
The Foster Creek project is part of the FCCL Partnership, a joint venture between Cenovus and ConocoPhillps which also includes the Christina Lake and Narrow Lakes oilsands expansion projects. The total gross capacity of the partnership currently sits around 225,000 BPD. Ongoing expansion projects are expected to increase FCCL’s future production to 750,000 BPD.
