With the goal of creating jobs and developing low-carbon technologies, the Alberta government has signed a low-carbon agreement with the United Kingdom, reports CBC news.
The main objectives of the agreement are:
- Increase renewable energies
- Promote energy efficiency
- Reduce harmful emissions
Though the kind of jobs that could potentially develop from the agreement has not yet been specified, Energy Minister Marg McCuaig Boyd said: “As we look together on possibilities … hopefully there will be areas of interest together where there’s investment or collaboration and that will turn into jobs.”
